Superconducting recoil separator for superheavy element chemistry


18.11.2020 – FLNR Scientific Seminar “Superconducting recoil separator for superheavy element chemistry”, 15-30, Flerov Lab Conference Hall (by invitation only) and online WebEx (for everybody).

Construction of SHE Factory (FLNR JINR) 48Ca ion beam fast recoil separator for the study of chemical behavior of heaviest elements of the seventh period of Mendeleev Periodic Table is under consideration here. Study of intermetallic compound formation like < Hg/Au > begun in first element 112 experiments (2007) may be continued with heavier elements after DC280 accelerator startup.


The main idea of those research is to test modern theoretical predictions of the role of “relativistic effects” in SHE electronic structure and their influence on the Periodic Table of chemical elements.
