Advances in scintillation detector materials and light detection techniques
29.03.2019 – FLNR Scientific Seminar “Advances in scintillation detector materials and light detection techniques”, 11-00, Flerov Lab Conference Hall.
Speaker: Dr. P. Schotanus, SCIONIX, Holland
The last years new scintillation crystals have been developed with superior properties compared to classic materials. An overview is presented of where stand with all these developments and what the practical use is of these new materials.
The recent improvement of silicon photomultipliers allows the design of novel scintillation sensors that can be used in very strong magnetic fields, operate at low voltage and which are very compact in size. The advantages and disadvantages of this technology is presented with some practical examples.
