Ion thermalization and extraction simulations at the cryogenic gas stopping cell
New experimental setup for the high-precision mass measurement of the heavy and superheavy nuclei is being built in the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions (Dubna). Crucial part of the setup for stopping and thermalization of the reaction products is the cryogenic gas stopping cell (CGSC). Particles produced after alpha decay are stopped in the active volume of the inner chamber and guided by the electrical potential between electrodes to the supersonic nozzle and then extracted by the radio frequency quadrupole. Simulations of the extraction time from CGSC were performed. Simulation of the inner alpha source followed. The internal software based on SRIM and Geant4 with the Monte Carlo method was used in the simulations.
