Basic Sciences Year in Serbia

World Conference on Basic Sciences and Sustainable Development was held in Belgrad (Serbia) on September 19-22, 2022 and became one of the main in the series of International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development – IYBSSD 2022 events. JINR delegation took part in the conference.

Alexander Karpov, FLNR Scientific secretary as a member of the JINR delegation delivered a report at the Conference.

He told in his report about exploring the Periodic Table limits, about history of heaviest element discovery and in particular about those in the vicinity of the island of stability of superheavy elements.

Some consideration was given to the existing opportunities and perspectives for synthesis and study of superheavy elements which opened after FLNR SHE Factory was successfully put into operation.

Special attention was paid in the report to the importance of international cooperation in solving big scientific problems.

The Conference was a success, JINR participants’ reports were of interest, some questions and discussions followed.
