JINR – China: SHE synthesis cooperation
On September 15, 2022 Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reaction and Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (Lanzhou) held a meeting via videoconferencing. The event concerned expanding cooperation in synthesis and study of properties of superheavy elements. Sergei Dmitriev, JINR vice director moderated the meeting.
Academician Yu.Oganessian, FLNR Scientific Leader gave a report about SHE research in Dubna; Vasilii Semin, Head of FLNR accelerator department told about FLNR accelerator complex; Vladimir Utyonkov, Head of Synthesis and properties of superheavy nuclei sector devoted his report to the results and perspectives of SHE Factory experiments. Nikolai Aksenov, Head of Chemistry of transactinides Sector told about preparations and program to study chemical properties of SHE.
XU Hushan, IMR CAS Director told about recent research and development of research infrastructure.
The reports about development of the accelerator complex for SHE synthesis, creation of high-intensity ECR ion sources, status of synthesis research and status of the studies of SHE chemical properties were given by He Yuan, Sun Liangting, Zhang Zhiyuan and Qin Zhi, the heads of the relevant areas of IMP CAS.
In the discussion that followed the parties agreed to expand cooperation in accelerator technologies and SHE physics and chemistry.
Alexander Karpov, FLNR Scientific secretary and SUN Zhiyu, IMP Deputy director were appointed the cooperation program coordinators.
