The Physics Institute at the National Autonomous University of Mexico

A brief overview of the Mexican infrastructure in science and our public university system will be followed by a more detailed description of the main physics research center in Mexico, The Physics Institute at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Emphasis will be placed on the description of the facilities, and their scientific programs, of the two accelerator-based laboratories hosting nuclear physics programs: The 5.5 MV single-ended Van de Graaff accelerator and the 1 MV tandem accelerator. The latest being the heart of the Accelerator Mass Spectrometry Facility. Lastly, a brief mention of one of the collaboration programs being pursued between JINR and Mexico will be made.
