    "COMBAS" SEPARATOR

  • MAIN WORKS AND RESULTS

  • COMBAS high resolution kinematic separator of high angular and momentum acceptance was created in the FLNR for effective collection of extremely short-living nuclei near zero angle in intermediate-energy fragmentation reactions of wide momentum and angular distributions. For the first time COMBAS separator M1M2M3M4FdM5M6M7M8Fa magneto-optic configuration is realized on the rigid focusing principle. Three parameters are important for particle separation and trajectory analysis by COMBAS setup: magnetic rigidity (Bρ), energy loss difference in the degrader (ΔE/Δx) and time of flight (ΔT). COMBAS separator maybe used efficiently both in the mode of high-resolution spectrometer for study of nuclear reaction mechanisms and in the mode of an in-flight separator in the experiments on synthesis and study of properties of short-living exotic nuclei near the border line of nuclear stability.

  • Product yields with 2 ≤ Z ≤ 11 at angle of zero degrees in 18O with 9Be and 181Ta nucleus-nucleus collisions have been studied systematically at Fermi energy domain (35 A MeV). Reaction product yields were measured in COMBAS fragment separator spectrometric mode. Inclusive velocity, isotopic and element distributions were measured.

    Product yields with 3 ≤ Z ≤ 10 at angle of zero degrees in 22Ne with 9Be and 181Ta nucleus-nucleus collisions have been studied systematically at Fermi energy domain (40 A MeV). Reaction product yields were measured in COMBAS fragment separator spectrometric mode. Inclusive velocity, isotopic and element distributions were measured.
